my 2016

Happy New Year everyone!
Its the 31st December and I thought it was a good time to blog before the year closes. 2016 has been a fantastic year for me, and as everyone agrees, it flew. This year had been a really fulfilling year for me. I did so many things that were worth remembering and sharing. In order of dates, I will quickly share my favourite (maybe top 3) times of the year.
My 21st Birthday
Definitely, a memorable event I felt that I needed to put on my blog was my 21st birthday party.

I guess for so many of my friends 21st can mean a lot, whilst some don't see a deal for it at all. Back then I didn't have the urge to blog about my life because I thought I wouldn't have the time and motivation. But to me, I felt that it was a day to spend with all my friends and family that I care about, and I wanted to let them know that some special occasions are worth celebrating and I am really thankful for them :')
Here's a credit photo to my beloved who worked hard on my special day:

Others:
Cupcake - hand baked with love by my Cousin, Gilbert
Balloons delivery - Ian
Photo Booth arranging - Shihui & Ruiqi
Cake collection - My brother and dasao, and my mother for buying!
Flower Vase and Double Tier cake stand - Julia
Right now can't think of anymore because my actually 9 months ago!!! And of course my beloved family for being here, running errands and their hospitality to all my friends. I love all of you and thank you for the presents!!! :D
If you guys have any questions on where I get all my props and stuff, you can feel free to ask and I will be glad to help!
Project Xin Yuan 8
Being part of an overseas community service project is really common in SMU. In the year 2015, I was part of Project Xin Yuan 7. This project pledges to help the disabled community in GuangZhou through education in the context of management skills (as our specialisation). In 2016, Nic and I decided to take a bold step to lead the next batch.
And here it is!
I couldn't have been more proud and happy to be part of this dynamic team that I felt was overall responsible and mature. Though it was tiring and tough, the whole long year of planning for a short 2 weeks trip was indeed worthwhile, and could not have been better without them!

Here's a photo with the students at the school! The school we visited was GuangZhou English Training Centre for the Handicapped (also known as GETCH). The students were not just friendly and hospitable to us, but were also really motivated people who never will never stop learning and improving themselves.
I highly encourage people to come out of their comfort zone and join a service project if the school offers you a chance. I understood the culture of others and the differences we may possess. Guangzhou has almost been my favourite place to visit in the past 2 years because the food is good, people are nice (more importantly no language barrier for me) and everything is affordable.
Taiwan
My boyfriend's family and I went for a short 5 day trip to Taiwan after my first ever internship during May-August 2016. It was my 2nd time at Taiwan after 2008 (?). I couldn't remember much back then because I was young and took things for granted..... So this time round, I counted my blessings and wanted to remember (and reminisce 2008) the trip his family had brought to me.
This picture was taken at the Taiwan Zoo that was extremely huge. (Maybe Singapore Zoo comparatively is just smaller because the animals were all condensed and clustered together).
I really want to share more photos and my experience here on my blog. It is partially for me to look back and remember the special moments I had. Here's another typical shot at Shi Fen.
Johor Bahru Trip
I know I said earlier that I'm going to list the top 3. But this is just an additional shout out to a one day event that happened with my mum, brother and boyfriend. It was a pity my father wasn't interested in visiting JB or else I think it'll be fantastic. Our main agenda was to head over to make new glasses for all 3 of us (except my boyfriend because he has perfect vision), but we also leverage on the chance to shop and eat! Here's a shot while resting at New Town White Coffee at KSL.
So this is it!
I hoped you guys enjoyed knowing a little more about my 2016.
I'm looking forward to 2017 because Nic and I will be spending 5 whole months in Japan for my SMU exchange program that will start in April!
I will give you guys more updates about it nearer to date. But if you guys have any recommendations for external accommodations please let me know! We are still in the process of planning our modules, flight etc.
Till then! xoxo
