My last week of internship
06:31:00A wonderful phase of my life is about to come to an end.
We took the leap of faith to apply for an exchange program last August, thinking that we would stand higher chances than ever. We were at first upset to be posted to different countries and really hesitated to accept the offer. But we knew we never wanted to be apart for 6 months, thus withdrew to re-apply.
Thank goodness and thank SMU we were blessed to be offered Japan - Hitotsubashi University.
Though it wasn't our first choice, we were delighted to be offered anywhere as long as we were posted to the same school.
I would say it was a blessing in a huge disguise.
Usually, schools in Japan start in April and end around August (Term 1). Since we had the time to spare between our semesters, we decided to take the opportunity to hunt for an internship.
I didn't really wanted to blog about my internship because I always thought working experiences were pretty personal - and a part of me just wanted to be confidential about it. It was a 3-month internship and I started my internship on the first week of December. I celebrated my Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year with them. It was great.
The last week of my internship finally arrived. There was a new intern that came in this week too so we could do the handover. I was relieved, yet pretty happy that this whole episode of my life is going to be over. To summarize, it was an enriching, yet uncontrollable bumpy ride.
I learnt so many things from this internship -
It was an eye opener for me given this was my first experience working in an office, in CBD.
I cannot wait to move on to the next chapter of my life.
This time round, we will embark on independence in a foreign land where we can barely speak the language we speak. This time round, I believe it will be better, and will be one of the best phase of my life.
